Abstract: 

Critical rationalism faces difficulty in Karl Popper’s Socratic formulation: “I may be wrong, and you may be right, and by an effort, we may find the truth.” But the Socratic elenchus, using refutations, can only give us negative knowledge of general principles, which is not the wisdom we seek. Affirmatively, we can only find a collection of opinions to be coherent, which is one of many. Francis Bacon proposed an improved elenchus to find general truths. You must take up a limited topic to study, then cross-examine your evidence for and against its apparent nature. Experiments contrary to evidence and presumed knowledge are entered as self-contradictions in tables of opposition recorded in an “Experimental and natural history.” Such an account highlights a challenging puzzle if the account is to be made coherent. With enough problematized evidence, a coherent reading, or a solution of the puzzle, will be unique. Being both coherent and unique, it will be the truth about that limited reality being investigated. Unlike the method of hypothesis (“Anticipating Nature”), deciphering a coherent model is “Interpreting Nature,” allowing us to find a general truth on a limited topic. Isaac Newton achieved great success using Robert Boyle’s mechanistic version of this method. Using the “Experimental philosophy,” he discovered general principles of optics and astronomy.

Abstract: 

Postmodernism represents skepticism toward metanarratives and universal ideologies that dominated the modernist era. The study focuses on three key postmodernist concepts - alternative assessment, process syllabi, and self-directed learning. Alternative assessment emphasizes evaluating the learning process over summative testing. Process syllabi focus on the learning experience rather than rigid outcomes. Self-directed learning enables student responsibility in setting learning goals and processes. This paper examined the effects of postmodernist educational concepts on improving Iranian EFL learners’ autonomy. A quasi-Experimental pre-test/post-test design was utilized with 60 intermediate level Iranian EFL students divided into an Experimental and control group (n=30 each). The Experimental group received instruction utilizing the three postmodernist concepts over 14 weeks, while the control group received traditional modernist instruction. Autonomy was measured using a validated questionnaire before and after the intervention. The results showed the Experimental group demonstrated significant increases in autonomy compared to the control group. Paired sample t-tests revealed significant differences between pre-test and post-test autonomy for the Experimental group across all three postmodern concepts - alternative assessment, process syllabi, and self-directed learning. This suggests postmodernist concepts that decentralize instruction and emphasize student process over outcomes can enhance Iranian EFL learners’ self-direction and responsibility for language acquisition. The study implies EFL syllabus designers and instruction should transition to postmodern models centered on individualized assessment, flexible syllabi, and student-guided learning to boost autonomy. Further research can expand sample sizes and explore additional postmodernist concepts across diverse demographics.

Abstract: 

In the present study, the main purpose is the qualitative study on garbage collection in Tehran city. It has been done by qualitative research method. Semi-structured interview and purposeful sampling techniques were used in data collection. To do this, 15 people were interviewed and the sample size in the present study was determined based on theoretical saturation. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the data. Theme analysis was performed at 4 levels of primary, main, central and core themes. A total of 184 initial themes were extracted from all interviews. In the main coding stage, the following 9 main themes were merged. Escape from poverty in the origin and the inevitable choice of inferiority, society's view to garbage collectors, and high stress, strengthening the cycle of academic reluctance and illiteracy, physical and mental torment, unknown horizon and confusion of the Khojies, legal ambiguity and customary definitions and contracts, complaints from relevant institutions, the entry of the mafia and the formation of rent and corruption. Finally, these themes fall into two categories of social harmfulness of recycling and institutional exclusion and illegallity of the status of garbage collectors in the second distrect in the form of the core theme of the structure of socially harmful and institutionally illegal, waste phenomenon explained..

Abstract: 

Purpose: The science of interpretation, as the most important science responsible for understanding the Qur'an, needs to be methodized and updated so that the teachings of the Qur'an can be used easily for all classes of people. In the present study, the meaning of "future research in interpretation" is the ability to create desirable models for more efficient interpretation in the future, by using scientific tools, creativity and relying on the foundations and rules of interpretation and compensating the damages of interpretation in the past.Method: This research, with descriptive analytical method, answers the question, what are the fields and requirements of future research in interpretation? Findings: The results of the current research are based on the fact that special attention to the Qur'an, as the most important source of interpretation, rationality and methodical consideration in interpretation, attention to the prerequisites of interpretation, interpretation based on the requirements of the time, the need to pay attention to thematic interpretation, studying on the history of interpretation and observing the manners and conditions of interpretation are one of the most important requirements of interpretation in the future. Results: Considering the developments that will take place in the field of knowledge, methods and expectations from science in the future, the interpretation will also change. For this reason, in order not to cause various damages to the interpretation of the Qur'an, it is necessary to pay attention to the various contexts, principles and requirements of the interpretation of the Qur'anic commentators and scholars.

Abstract: 

مقدمه و هدف: در این مقاله دو روش آموزشی تحت عناوین Case study ,Case Method به عنوان تکنیکهای آموزشی مورد بررسی و نقد قرار گرفته و تفاوتها و شباهتهای هر کدام به طور جداگانه بررسی شده است و نکات کاربردی هر روش در آموزش پرستاری مورد بحث قرار گرفته است.مرور مطالعات: در این مقاله ابتدا تعاریف دو نوع متد آموزشی ارایه گردیده و سپس موارد استفاده از هر متد به طور جداگانه بحث شده است، و با توجه به ماهیت آموزش پرستاری ایران پیشنهادات کاربردی در این زمینه ارایه شده است. Case Method در گروههای آموزشی کوچکتر که مشاهدات ذهنی کمتری دارند و در ابتدای تجربه می باشند استفاده می شود. ولی Case study در گروههای آموزشی بزرگتر که مشاهدات ذهنی بیشتری دارند و قدرت تجزیه و ترکیب و رشد بحث در آنها بیشتر می باشد استفاده می شود. از ویژگیهای مهم آنها می توان به افزایش قدرت تصمیم گیری افراد در موقعیتهای مختلف، لذتبخش تر کردن آموزش و علاقمند کردن به امر تدریس و ... نام برد.بحث و نتیجه گیری: با توجه به یافته های پژوهش و با توجه به محتوی برنامه های آموزشی پرستاری، محقق استفاده از روشهای Case study ,Case Method را برای دانشجویان پرستاری توصیه می نماید. زیرا بهترین آموزش یادگیرنده ها زمانی مطرح می باشد که دانش هماهنگ و متنوع مهارتهای آموزشی با تجربیات در کنار هم می باشد.

Abstract: 

BACKGROUND: Postmenopausal women considered as risk population, due to estrogen deficiency, 80% of women reduce physical and mental well-being in their menopausal years. Menopausal symptoms are not always reasons for any life-intimidating situations, but it disturbs quality of life (QoL) of middle-aged women. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This non-randomized control trial was conducted among slum women in the age group of 40 to 60 years who were in their postmenopausal period (within 5 years). study group was intervened by lifestyle-related interventional module about concept of menopause, symptoms, health issues, dietary habit for reducing menopausal symptoms with a practical demonstration of yoga, exercises and pranayama, group and individual counseling to the participants. Independent t-test, paired t-test, Chi-squared test, and Fisher's exact test were analyzed by SPSS software version 28 licensed to the institute. RESULTS: The mean age of the participants was 51. 02 ± 2. 94 years ranging from 47 to 58 years. As per anthropometric and blood pressure measurements data, significant differences were found in weight (P < 0. 02), body mass index (P < 0. 001), waist/Hip Ratio (P < 0. 001), SBP (P < 0. 001) and DBP (P < 0. 001) between both the groups. Comparing the mean difference score of vasomotor, psychosocial, physical and sexual domains of the MENQOL questionnaire pre-and post-intervention found that, there was significant reduction of QoL score in study group. CONCLUSION: The lifestyle related interventions as an alternative therapy are safe, free from side effects, cost-effective and government program may be implemented for the betterment of the menopausal women.

Abstract: 

Background: Among the antiepileptic drugs, Phenobarbital (PB) has the highest potential for adverse effects on cognition and behavior. The memory formation process depends on the integrity of hippocampus neuronal circuits. This study aimed to determine the volumetric alterations of Dentate Gyrus (DG) and Cornu Ammonis of hippocampus following long-term administration of PB.Methods: 20 male Wistar rats were divided into four groups (control and 3 Experimental groups). Control animals were received saline and Experimental groups were received phenobarbital intraperitoneally at doses of 50, 75 and 100 mg/kg daily for 45 days. The posterior region of the brain (which contains hippocampus) was cut into serial 25 mm thick sections. Every 20th section was selected with systematic random sampling. The unbiased stereological Cavallieri method was used to determine the volume of the layers of hippocampal subfields.Findings: Our results showed the significant effect of PB on the volume of layers of DG, CA1 and CA3 of rat's hippocampus. Comparisons showed that the volumes of different layers in above-mentioned regions were significantly decreased following PB administration at 75 and 100 mg/kg doses.Conclusion: Long-term effect of PB on the volume of hippocampal regions is dose dependent. It is essential that the dose of PB be kept at a minimum effective dose to reduce its negative effects. It is also can be suggested that the CA1 volume reduction may be relevant to the reported impairment of learning and memory in PB treated patients.

Abstract: 

Juniper is the most important native conifer in Iran. Juniper as one of the most resistant tree species to extreme conditions, frost (up to -40°C) and drought, plays important role in mountainous regions of Iran. In this study, by investigation on qualitative and quantitative characteristics of essential oils ofleaves and berries (female cones), the effects of environmental factors were studied on metabolism of secondary products. The volatitale constituents of the Leaves and berries of male, female and male-female trees isolated by steam-distillation were analyzed by GC-MS.Results indicated that the amount of essential oil in berries is higher than that in leaves. Seasonal alteration of essential oil of berries differs from leaves. The essential oil of berries increase during growth period, however decreased in leaves. Besides drying has increasing effect on essential oil. In total 32 terpenoidic components were found that a-pinene, limonene, trans-verbenol, cisverbenol, verbenone, g- elemone and elemol were the important ones. a-pinene up to 70% of essential oil content was the highest component. Seasonal alteration of each component was very variable.Drying effect can be valuable for isolation of components and commercial applications.

Abstract: 

Interventional studies , especially in laboratory Experimental researches , constitute a significant portion of the theses conducted in veterinary faculties across the country . The importance of these study designs in applied research and development underscores the necessity for students and researchers to be familiar with this design . This article begins with a brief history of this type of study . It then proceeds to introduce various types ( laboratory , clinical trials , field trials , social trials , quasi-Experimental studies ) , the different phases of this design ( pharmacological and toxicity testing , initial testing for potential therapeutic and safety effects , clinical evaluation stage , post-marketing evaluation ) , and its various methods (parallel design , crossover design , sequential design , factorial design ) . This article also discusses the required sample size for conducting a study , criteria for entry and exit of study participants or animals , blinding and medical ethics . Given the importance of clinical trials , especially in terms of ethical considerations in research , the registration of this type of study after proposal development is also mentioned . This article refers to some examples of interventional studies published in Iran and worldwide so that students and researchers can use these designs as models . It is expected that the reader could critically read these type of articles and reports , published in scientific texts and play an effective role in conducting an Experimental ( interventional ) study .

Abstract: 

In this study, chemical compositions of black seed meals samples were determined. 18 male weaning Zandi lambs with an average body weight of 23.5 ±1.5 kg were used in a completely randomized design in three groups of six in individual pens. Experimental treatments were: 1) control (basal diet with 12% soybean meal and without black seed meal), 2) diet containing 6% soybean meal and 9% black seed meal and 3) diet containing 18% black seed meal and without soybean meal. The concentration of dry matter, crude protein, crude fat, NDF, ADF, ADIN, and crude ash of black seed meal samples were 97.53±0.58, 31.26±0.99, 15.16 ± 0.61, 25.95 ± 1.34, 14.2±0.80, 0.69±0.04 and 5.07 ± 0.24, respectively. Replacement of soybean meal with black seed meal in the diet of Experimental lambs had no effect on final body weight, daily weight gain, feed conversion ratio, dry matter intake, dressing percentage, tail and total body fat deposition. Albumin and total protein were higher for lambs fed by diet containing 18 % black seed meal compared to other treatments (P <0.05). However, the concentration of blood triglyceride, cholesterol and urea nitrogen were not differed between Experimental groups. The digestibility of dry matter, organic matter, crude fat and protein were not affect by feeding of Experimental diets. It seems that black seed meal can be used in the diet of fattening lambs up to 18% without adverse effect on performance and nutrients digestibility of growing lambs.
